Cassandra Zolnowski

Talent Acquisition Specialist

In my current role, I focus on attending university events and connecting with new grads to guide them on the different career paths within SHI. I also currently recruit for the IAM, IAE, and purchasing roles.
HR was not my major when I first began college. I started in nursing and half way through my program I realized it wasn’t for me so I left. I had to figure out what my major was going to be now because for the longest time it was nursing. At the time I was working as a manager at a chain restaurant and when deciding where to go I thought about my current role and what I liked doing. It turns out I liked HR related tasks so I went for it. I transferred to Rutgers HR program in 2019 and finished in 2021.
Once I graduated it was time to start the dreaded job search. I was lucky enough to have a few companies in mind and SHI was at the top of the list. A few aspects of my life led SHI to being the number one company to apply to. My first guide was from one of my professors at Rutgers. In one of my business classes my professor would suggest places to look for job opportunities in and one she mentioned often enough was SHI. She pushed me to look into the company. Once I started looking more into the company I found reason number 2 which was I had family and friends who worked here. It made me feel more confident in working with a company that was reputable with my inner circle. The last reason was what SHI stands for. The fact that we are the largest women and minority based business in the US was the final reason I decided to apply and get my foot in the door.
